A magic formula for you: 8-1-1-1

Have you ever worked with a peak performance coach, someone whose job it is to push you to ensure you are living your life to its fullest [whatever ‘fullest’ means to you?] Well, I am and have been for a couple weeks now. It has been eye opening and inspiring.

I thought I’d share with you a ‘formula’ that my coach shared with me during our last session. I asked her to share with me the common practices of ultimate performers [those living their lives to the fullest, whatever that means to them]. She said that on a daily basis, ultimate performers spend:

  • 6-8 hours working, doing something meaningful, and / or something they love
  • 1 hour exercising
  • 1 hour connecting with others
  • 1 hour restoring [praying, meditating, journaling, reading, etc., but not watching television]

Can you do it? Give it a try. This formula is definitely keeping me honest with my exercising! Have fun figuring out what your ‘Ultimate Formula’ is for 2007.

  1. Hello Sandy,
This is an awesome post. I was just thinking of ways to push myself to be my ultimate self. It’s funny how you take everything in stride and so positively. When I had a coach that was pushing me to be my best I felt oppressed and under appreciated for a while, until a light bulb: “She must really think you can do it!” went off in my head. I stopped taking the never yielding push so personally and took it as a change vitamin so to speak! LOL I appreciate your honesty and sharing, I wonder if one hour a day of exercise will keep me honest! (Fingers crossed behind my back)
