“You can tell a man is clever by his answers. You can tell a man is wise by his questions.” Naguib Mahfouz (1911-2006), Egyptian novelist, Nobel Prize Laureate
What kind of example are you setting as a leader? Do you focus more on your answers or your questions? How about your team – do you coach them to be more clever or wise?
Practice: Decide today that you are going to ask a question as your response to learn more about a situation vs. simpy replying with what you think the answer should be or is. You may be surprised with what you uncover. Have fun evolving.
Where I’ve Been: I haven’t been here for a while, but I’m glad to be back. Thanks to all of you who have written me and given me nudges to get back out here. Two months ago, I started a really interesting project and needed to focus on ensuring the program and team were properly prepared for long-term success. We are now positioned for success, and I am thrilled to be available to be engaging with this broader audience again.
Some of you have sent me topics that you’d like to see me cover more frequently. I will do that. Thanks for the guidance – keep your ideas coming.
Sandy, welcome back! Good luck on the project.
