Lions, antelopes and looking ahead

“When the lion is chasing
the antelope, he
doesn’t look back.
He has to eat.”

Robert Cheruiyot (1978 – ), Kenyan marathon runner, three-time Boston Marathon winner

Here’s to you remembering to keep looking forward when your company is going through a big change. It is tempting and easy and comfortable to look backwards, opining about how great things used to be. Take the high road, demonstrate your strength, and keep forging ahead. Hey, who wants to stop and look backward and quit when they are 13 miles into a marathon?! Come on, keep on going. You’ll be happy with the end goal and the result.

  1. Hmmm. Great question. Maybe the antelope can use its senses other than sight to assess the situation. I think there is a lesson for all of us here!

  2. Great analogy 🙂
I wonder if the antelope looks back to size up what the threat is :p Nowdays it seems like there are various “lions” that are chasing us (downsizing, offshoring, GenY) that we need to understand.
