What Can Bears and Hogs Teach Us About Leading Organizational Change?

“Speak little, do much.”

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790), American statesman, writer, scientist & printer

I’m proud to say that my Arkansas Razorbacks and Chicago Bears both spoke little but did much this weekend to win in overtime.

If you watched the games and / or read about them afterwards, words you’ll see mentioned are:

  • Effort
  • Perseverance
  • Heart
  • Competitive Spirit
  • Energy
  • Togetherness
  • Not Giving Up
  • Consistency
  • Leadership
  • High Performance

Hmmm. All the words and phrases that are important when going through an organizational change. Both underdogs, but both winners. Seems like there is lots to learn from the Hogs and Bears….or from you own favorite teams if you don’t quite appreciate my teams as much as I do.

[We four Razorback fans watched the game in a Chicago bar filled with 100 LSU fans. I will say that the LSU fans were quite gracious to us…they certainly could have attacked us once we won in triple overtime!]
