VIDEO: Leadership Lessons from Craig Donohue, Merc CEO

Here is a leadership knowledge nugget that I thought others would enjoy and learn from. As a change agent / retained executive search consultant / organizational performance consultant, I am always seeking great leadership stories that I can share with prospects, clients, co-workers, or anyone interested in learning what it takes to be a strong leader.

A lawyer by training, Craig Donohue rose through the ranks of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange [Merc] and was named CEO in 2004. The Merc has been a top performing stock ever since, increasing more than seven-fold since Mr. Donohue was named chief executive. And, all eyes are on the Merc lately, with its recent $8-billion acquisition of the Chicago Board of Trade.

Watch this short video to hear Mr. Donohue’s advice on:

  • Whom to hire
  • Succeeding as a young manager
  • Handling office politics
  • Managing on a global stage
